Where to Find Product Information, Cin7, the Live Site, and the EC Wiki
A quick lookup for where a given piece of product information actually lives. Cin7 owns inventory/supply data, the live website (WooCommerce) owns customer-facing content, and the EC Wiki mirrors most of what's on the live site plus a partial, not-yet-finalized copy of Cin7 stock, so the wiki is often the fastest place to check, but not always the most trustworthy for stock or for anything that doesn't exist there yet.
Steps to Follow
Ask yourself: is this about stock, cost, or where the product comes from? If yes, the source of truth is Cin7.
Ask yourself: is this about how the product looks or reads on the website? If yes, the source of truth is the live site (WooCommerce).
Either way, try the EC Wiki first if it's faster to check, most product content and a stock figure are mirrored there. Just don't treat the wiki as final for anything stock-related (see the Wiki caveats below) or for a SKU that doesn't already exist in it.
If a field doesn't clearly fit either question, check the lists below for the specific field.
Look in Cin7 for
SKU, specifically, any new or not-yet-existing SKU. If a SKU isn't already in the wiki, Cin7 is the only place to confirm it.
Stock quantity, for anything stock-critical. The wiki shows a stock figure too, but treat it as a convenience number, not the final answer (see notes).
Product cost (the original supplier price, not the website sale price)
Supplier
Purchase orders
Parts / components that make up a product
Look in the live site (WooCommerce) for
Website price (what the customer actually pays)
Product description
Product images
Website categories
Customer downloads (artwork templates, spec sheets, etc.)
Look in the EC Wiki for
SKU, for products already imported into the wiki, the SKU is right there on the product post. If the SKU you're after isn't in the wiki at all, that's your signal to go check Cin7 instead, it may be new or not yet imported.
Anything visible on the live site, description, images, categories, price, downloads/links, since these are the same fields synced over from the live product via the Wiki to Exhibit product sync API. Faster to check here if you're already in the wiki.
Stock quantity, but only as a rough check. See the note below before relying on it.
Notes
SKU is the link between all three systems, Cin7, WooCommerce, and the wiki are all matched by SKU, so if a SKU is wrong or missing anywhere, information tied to it won't line up across the others.
Wiki stock figures come from a one-way Cin7 to Wiki sync (matched by SKU) that is not finalized yet, don't treat the wiki's stock number as authoritative for anything that actually matters (fulfilment decisions, customer promises). Confirm in Cin7 directly when it counts.
All of these cross-system numbers move via APIs, not manual re-entry, the Wiki to Exhibit product sync and the Cin7 to Wiki stock pull are both API-based. If something in the wiki looks stale or wrong, an API sync issue (or a sync that simply hasn't run yet) is worth suspecting before assuming the underlying data itself is wrong.
Parts/components are tracked in Cin7 because that's where stock and supply for those individual parts is managed, see 'Adding Components to a Product' for how those parts actually get attached to an order.
This list covers the common cases, if something isn't listed here and you're not sure which system owns it, ask before assuming it's safe to edit in any of them.
