How to Add Product Components for My Account Reorder

Shows how to attach small-part component products to a parent product so they appear under My Account → Components, where customers can reorder them.

Steps to Follow

Log in to the live Exhibit Central WordPress admin, then go to Products → All Products.

Find the parent product that should offer reorderable parts (for example a full display kit), and open it to edit.

On the product edit screen, scroll to Exhibit Central — Product Data and open the Components tab.

This list is edited here on the live product. Existing rows show each part’s name, SKU, and quantity. You can change a quantity in place, or remove a row with the red x if that part should no longer appear for reorder.

At the bottom of the tab, type the part’s SKU, set the quantity needed for this parent product, then click Add (or press Enter).

Use the quantity that matches how many of that part the parent product uses, for example 2 if the kit needs two of the same profile.

Wait for the lookup to finish. You should see a short status such as “Looking up …” while the SKU is checked against the catalog.

If the SKU is wrong or the product does not exist, the add will fail and nothing new appears in the list. Fix the SKU and try again.

When the lookup succeeds, the part is appended to the Components list with the quantity you set. Confirm the name, SKU, and qty look right before saving.

Repeat Add for any other parts this parent product should expose on My Account.

Click Update in the Publish box to save the product. The Components list is not live on My Account until this save completes.

To verify, open the storefront as a customer who has already ordered that parent product, then go to My Account → Components.

You should see a card for the parent product, with a reference to the order it came from. If the card is missing, either Components were not saved on the product, or that customer has never ordered that parent.

Click the product card to open the components modal. Parts that can be bought online show a price and a Reorder button. The “× N needed” note is the quantity saved on the product, as a guide for the customer.

Parts without a usable online price, or that are not currently orderable (for example out of stock), land under More Components with a note to contact support. They stay visible for reference but do not get a Reorder button.

Click Reorder on an orderable part. A quantity popup opens, defaulting to the configured “needed” quantity. The customer can change that number, then choose Add to cart or Cancel.

After a successful add, the cart drawer should open as usual so they can check out like any other purchase.

Before you add a component

The part must already exist as its own product in the catalog, with the SKU you will type into the Components tab.
Decide the quantity needed for one of the parent product. That number is what customers see as “× N needed” and what the Reorder popup suggests first.
To test My Account → Components, use a customer account that has already purchased the parent product. Cards are built from that customer’s order history.

When Reorder shows vs More Components

A part gets a Reorder button when it has a real price above zero and is currently orderable (in stock, or backorders allowed if stock is managed).
If the part has no price, is out of stock, or otherwise cannot be sold online right now, it still appears under More Components so the customer can see it and contact support.
If you expected Reorder but only see More Components, check the part product’s price and stock first, then re-check the modal after Update on the parent.

Notes

Always Update the parent product after changing the Components list. Leaving the edit screen without Update discards the change.
You can edit an existing row’s quantity or remove it with the red x, then Update again.
My Account only lists parent products that appear in the logged-in customer’s orders and that have at least one component saved.
If a SKU lookup fails, confirm the part product exists and the SKU matches exactly, including dashes and letter case as stored on that product.
